  • Microsoft Class Server 2.0

SUMMARY

This article describes how to extract learning resource material from a Microsoft Class Server Backup Dataset.

MORE INFORMATION

To extract learning resource material from a Class Server Backup Dataset, follow these steps:
  1. Open the Backup folder.
  2. Locate the Activities folder.
  3. Move any non-folder data (for example, the License.xml file) to a temporary location.

Note Most errors in this process occur because not all the extraneous files or folders were removed. When you troubleshoot this procedure, look for files or folders that are not valid Learning Resource folders.
  4. There will only be folders in your Activities folder now with names like 11-2, and 1-15.
  5. Locate the following folder:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Class Server\Client\Web\Client

  6. Double-click the MakeLRM.js file.

    This starts the MakeLRM.js tool.
  7. Use the MakeLRM.js tool to locate the Activities folder.
  8. Give your learning resource module a name.
This creates one large learning resource module with all the school's learning resources inside.

If you want to convert one resource to a learning resource module file, you must identify the folder that you want to convert and select that one. A good hint for finding the right folder is to search the Activities folder for the name of the learning resource. The result set will identify an Index.xml file in the folder that you want to convert.
