"ADDFailedObject: Failed Opening Parent" Error Message When You Migrate a Directory Tree to Active Directory (821477)

SYMPTOMS

If you use Microsoft Directory Service Synchronization (MSDSS) to migrate the whole directory tree from Novell Directory Services (NDS) to Active Directory directory service, you receive the following error message:
ADDFailedObject: Failed Opening Parent

CAUSE

This problem occurs if NDS contains an organizational unit that has an object class attribute Partition, instead of Organizational Unit.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install Microsoft Windows Services for NetWare 5.02 Service Pack 2.
