FIX: Channel Filtering Expression Is Truncated When You View or Edit an Existing Channel (821396)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002

SYMPTOMS

When you view a channel that has a very long filtering expression, the filtering expression may be truncated to 512 characters. You can create a channel that has a long expression. However, after you create the expression, it may become truncated and then saved when you view or edit the channel properties. Because the XPath expression is now incomplete, this problem may cause your application to fail.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem occurs when you use the BizTalk Object Model to gain access to an existing channel. The Messaging Manager interface uses this object model and causes this problem (as does any custom code). The messaging engine runtime does not cause this problem.

After you apply this hotfix, there is a supportable limit of 1024 characters for the filtering expression in channel properties.
