SUMMARY

You can use Systems Management Server (SMS) to install software on client computers. However, it may be difficult to troubleshoot software installation by using SMS. This white paper describes how to troubleshoot installation issues on client computers by using the SMS client log files.

This white paper focuses mostly on the Available Program Manager (APM) and the Offer (or advertisement) Data Providers (ODP) components. These components are mechanisms for running command-line programs on a client. These components log so much information that it may be difficult for you to understand what occurs on the client.
