Text or numbers are deformed in AutoCAD DXF or DWG file in Visio 2002 (821274)

SYMPTOMS

When you open an AutoCAD DXF or DWG file in Microsoft Visio 2002 that contains text or numbers, the text or numbers are deformed.

CAUSE

This issue may occur on a computer where locale settings use a comma (,) as the decimal separator instead of a period (.).

RESOLUTION

Service pack information

This problem is corrected in Microsoft Visio 2002 Service Pack 2.

The German version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, change the Number format of the English (United States) settings back to default settings. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Quit Visio 2002.
  2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Click Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options.
  4. Click Change the format of numbers, dates, and times.
  5. On the Regional Options tab, change the Select an item to match its preferences box to a different language (for example, English (United Kingdom).
  6. On the Regional Options tab, change the Select an item to match its preferences box back to English (United States).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
This problem was first corrected in Visio 2002 Service Pack 2.
