Contents of the CRL Distribution Points Field of a Digital Certificate Are Incorrectly Displayed (821248)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP1
  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP1

SYMPTOMS

When you click the Details tab of a digital certificate and then click the CRL Distribution Points field of that certificate, the value that appears in the bottom pane of the Certificate dialog box may be incorrectly displayed.

Specifically, the letter "N" may appear where you expect the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) path of the certificate revocation list (CRL) distribution point to appear.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you run the Spanish edition of Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1). The Spanish version of the Crypt32.dll file that is included with Windows XP SP1 does not correctly display the contents of the CRL Distribution Points field by using graphical user interface (GUI) tools such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-ins.
