Application Center 2000 User Interface May Break After You Change the Port on the Administrative Web Site (821129)

SYMPTOMS

The Application Center 2000 user interface may not work correctly if the port for the Application Center 2000 administrative Web site is changed.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Port property is cached. By default, this property is set to 4242.

RESOLUTION

To resolve the issue, flush the cached property by stopping and restarting the Application Center Administration service. When the service is restarted, the stored property value is flushed and the new value is read from the Internet Information Services (IIS) metabase.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. In the IIS Microsoft Management Console (MMC), right-click the Application Center 2000 Administration Web site, and then click Properties.
  2. Change the value in the TCP Port text box to 4245, and then click OK.
  3. Open the Web user interface for Application Center. Note that some of the pages may not be available.
