PRB: "Setup Could Not Restart IIS" Error Message During Installation of Application Center 2000 SP2 (821122)

SYMPTOMS

During the installation of Application Center 2000 Service Pack 2 (SP2), you may receive the following error message:
Setup could not restart IIS

CAUSE

This problem occurs because you are installing Application Center 2000 SP2 by means of a Terminal Services connection and the terminal server is in Application Server mode.

RESOLUTION

Although you receive the error, the installation is successful and Application Center 2000 SP2 will work correctly after you restart the upgraded server.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
