XL2000: When You Type a DBCS Character in Visual Basic Editor, a Full-Width Character Is Displayed (820842)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to type a double-byte character set (DBCS) character (for example, a Japanese character) in the Find what box in Microsoft Visual Basic Editor, a full-width character is displayed instead. (To see the Find What box, click Find on the Edit menu in Visual Basic Editor.)

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you have installed either Microsoft IntelliPoint software or a program that sets a hook to other programs (for example, Spy.exe).

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Office 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.
