No Help topic about the Prior Trusted Sources tab in Security dialog box in Office 2003 (818236)

SYMPTOMS

When you press F1 to view a Help topic while the focus is on the Prior Trusted Sources tab in the Security dialog box, the Help topic that is displayed makes no reference to the Prior Trusted Sources tab.

To view the Prior Trusted Sources tab (if it is available in your version of Microsoft Office):
  1. On the Tools menu, point to Macro.
  2. Click Security.

CAUSE

The Prior Trusted Sources tab is available in Office 2003 only in the following situation:
  • You have upgraded from an earlier version of Microsoft Office.
  • In your earlier version of Office, digital certificates attached to macros or add-ins were trusted.
Because the Prior Trusted Sources tab does not appear for all users of Office 2003, the Help topic does not mention the Prior Trusted Sources tab.

Note Administrators can publish trusted certificates directly to the list of trusted prior resources by using Group Policy or a custom installation. This also results in the Prior Trusted Sources tab appearing in Office 2003.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

MORE INFORMATION

On a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer, Office 2003 adds new certificates that you trust to the Trusted Publisher certificate store instead of adding them to the list on the Prior Trusted Sources tab.

Important The Trusted Publisher certificate store is shared by all programs on Windows XP. This means that if you download from the Web components signed with that same publisher certificate, there is no security warning. There is no security warning, because the publisher of the code is already trusted.
