You Receive a "Page Cannot Be Displayed" Error Message After You Install Hotfix Q332184 (818139)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to open a Web page, you may receive the following error message:
Page cannot be displayed
You receive this message only with specific pages. Other pages open correctly.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if both the following conditions are true:
  • You have installed hotfix Q332184 - HTTP Headers Are Displayed on the Server Upload Page.
  • The Web server sends a page that contains malformed or extraneous headers. For example, the first 16 bytes of the HTTP header may be repeated.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack that contains this hotfix.
