Second .pst File Is Created When You Move .pst File (817956)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Outlook 2003
- Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services
SYMPTOMSWhen you try to move your Personal Folders (.pst) file to a
different location, a second .pst file is created.CAUSEWindows SharePoint Services from Microsoft does not support
changing the location of the .pst file.STATUS This
behavior is by design.MORE INFORMATIONWhen you link your Contacts or Calendar from Windows
SharePoint Services, a second .pst file is created after you update the
location. Windows SharePoint Services creates this new .pst file because it
cannot locate the original. Now the new .pst file is used for synchronization.
If you change the entry in Data File Management, only the method that Windows
SharePoint Services uses to mount the .pst file is modified. Windows SharePoint
Services stores the location of the .pst file in your mail profile. The
information contained in local mail profiles is not connected to Data File
Management.
