BUG: You may receive a "Some items could not be deleted" error message when you delete items from an Outlook 2003 folder (817886)

SYMPTOMSWhen you try to permanently delete many items (more than
5000) from an Outlook 2003 folder, you may receive the following error
message: Some items could not be deleted. They were either
moved or already deleted, or access was denied. WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, select and delete fewer items
at the same time. Repeat this procedure until all the items that you want to
delete have been deleted. STATUS Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
MORE INFORMATIONTo delete items permanently from an Outlook 2003 folder,
select the items that you want to delete, and then press SHIFT+DELETE. This
procedure deletes the items completely from Outlook 2003 and does not move them
to the Deleted Items folder.
