The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Standard Edition, when used with:
    • the operating system: Microsoft Windows 2000

SYMPTOMS

After you remove and then reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework, a blank page appears when Microsoft Outlook Mobile Access clients log on to Exchange Server 2003. Additionally, an event ID 1503 message with a description similar to the following may be logged in the Application log of Windows 2000 Event Viewer:An unknown error occurred while processing the current request: The following device configuration is not found: 'XhtmlDeviceAdapters' (D:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\OMA\Browse\web.config line 104)

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when Exchange Server 2003 is installed on a computer that is running Windows 2000. When you install Exchange Server 2003 on a computer running Windows 2000, Exchange Server 2003 Setup installs .NET Framework and Device Update 2.0. If you remove and then reinstall .NET Framework, you must reinstall Device Update 2.0.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, reinstall Device Update 2.0. To do this, run the Dupdate.exe program from the following folder location on the Exchange Server 2003 CD:

Setup\i386\Exchange\OMA\Browse
