"Access Violation" Error Message in Windows Explorer on Windows 2000-Based Server (815494)

SYMPTOMS

When you run Windows Explorer on your Microsoft Windows 2000-based server, Explorer may quit unexpectedly, and you may receive an "Access Violation" error message.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if stack corruption in the OLE32!CClientContextActivator::CreateInstance function causes a problem in Ole32.dll.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
