WD2000: The Index Entry Is Listed As One Occurrence in the Index (815193)

SYMPTOMS

If you mark text that occurs on the same page in different sections of your document as an index entry (for example, the index entry occurs on page 1 of section 2 and on page 1 of section 3), the marked text appears as a single entry listing, and only the first occurrence of the marked text appears in the index.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the index entry exists on the same page of different sections.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing to further ensure product quality. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Office 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.
