MSBBN: Setup Not Detecting Wireless Notebook Adapter MN520 (814221)

SYMPTOMSDuring Microsoft Broadband Networking Wireless setup, you are prompted to insert the
PCMCIA wireless notebook adapter into the computer. Setup does not see the
adapter and does not continue. Both lights on the adapter are on
(steady).CAUSEThis problem may occur because of conflicts with other network adapter
drivers.RESOLUTIONRemove Unnecessary Adapters from Device ManagerTo remove unnecessary adapters, follow these steps: - Click Start, and then click
Control Panel.
- Double-click System.
- On the Hardware tab, click Device
Manager.
- Locate, and then expand Network Adapters.
- Remove any adapters listed that are not in use, including
the MN520.
- If Other Devices is listed,
expand it.
- Remove any unnecessary network or Internet service provider (ISP) (for example, America Online
adapters, dialup, or MN520) related items in this section.
- Close Device Manager, and then close System
Properties
- In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
- Remove the Microsoft Broadband software.
- Set up the Microsoft Broadband Network according to the
instructions that came with the product.
