FIX: AC.exe Deploy /DISABLE(ENABLE)SYNC Command Returns a "0x80070005 Access Denied" Error Message (813532)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Application Center 2000 SP1

SYMPTOMS

When you run one of the following Application Center commands, you may receive a "0x80070005 Access Denied" error message:

AC Deploy /DISABLESYNC /SOURCE:server /SOURCEUSER:user /SOURCEPASSWORD: password

AC Deploy /ENABLESYNC /SOURCE:server /SOURCEUSER:user /SOURCEPASSWORD: password

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of an impersonation problem in the AC.exe file. If you try to run one of the commands in the "Symptoms" section on a stager, and the Microsoft Windows user account that you are using does not have the correct permissions to gain access to the SOURCE server, the command returns a "0x80070005 Access Denied" error message. This problem occurs regardless of whether the SOURCEUSER Windows user account that you specify has the correct permissions on the SOURCE server.

The Windows user account that you are using when you run the command must have the correct permissions to gain access to the SOURCE server.
