MSBBN: MN-130 Network Adapter Is Not Recognized (812468)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Broadband Networking 10 100 Ethernet PCI Adapter MN130

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install a Microsoft MN-130 Network Adapter, the Microsoft Broadband Network Utility does not recognize the device, and it may ask you to install the device again.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if either of the following conditions is true:
  • There is a conflict between the MN-130 and another device that is installed on your computer.
  • There is a hardware configuration problem on your computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the procedures that are described below until the issue is resolved. After the issue is resolved, restart your computer and then continue or restart Microsoft Broadband Setup.

Method 1: Move the MN-130 to a Different PCI Slot

Remove the MN-130 Network Adapter and then reinstall it in a different PCI slot.

Some computers are configured so that two PCI slots share the same resources. For example, PCI slot 3 and PCI slot 5 may share the same interrupt request line (IRQ). This may create a conflict for some devices that are installed in those slots, but may not create a conflict for other devices. If you move your MN-130 to a different PCI slot, you may resolve this conflict. If you believe this conflict exists, but you cannot move the MN-130 to a non-shared PCI slot, put your PCI video adapter (if applicable) in one of the shared slots.
