The Reporting Wizard Generates Invalid Batch Files When You Specify Servers and Domains (812313)


The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you use the command-line Reporting Wizard and you specify servers and domains against which to run the reports, invalid batch files may be generated.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you use an invalid syntax when you specify server and domain names.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use the following format when you type the server name entries in the Reporting Wizard:

['Domain1\Server1'],['[Domain2\Server2']

Each server name must be enclosed in apostrophes ('). If you specify multiple server names, each entry must be separated by a comma (,). The server name can also include the domain name if the server name is in a different domain than the reporting console.

For example:

'CORPDOMAIN\ExchServer1', 'SQLServer1', 'EXTRANET\IISWeb1'

The DOMAIN field is only needed when you use the following 4 reports:
  • AD Domain Controllers By Domain
  • AD Operations Masters By Computer
  • AD Operations Masters By Role
  • AD Operations Masters Best Practices
The FOREST field is needed only when using the following 5 reports:
  • AD Domain Controllers By Site
  • AD Extinct Attributes
  • AD Extinct Classes
  • AD Replication Topology By Domain Controller
  • AD Replication Topology By Site
