The Word title bar flashes or the Word program becomes unresponsive when Word is running (812075)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to use Microsoft Word, one or more of the following symptoms occur:
  • The Word title bar flashes when you click Print.
  • The Word title bar flashes when you click Help.
  • The Word title bar flashes when you click Save As.
  • The Windows taskbar button for Word flashes.
  • Word stops responding.
  • You receive an error message that is similar to the following when you click End Task in Task Manager to end an unresponsive instance of Word:
    Word cannot close because an active dialog box is open.
  • You receive an Invalid Page Fault error message.
  • You receive an error message that is similar to following "Navw32.exe Application error" error message:
    The instruction at "0x77f57pd2" referenced memory at "0x00c50010". The memory could not be read. Click OK to terminate the program.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you enable the Norton AntiVirus plug-in for Microsoft Office on your computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, visit the following Symantec Web site to obtain an updated version of the Norton AntiVirus plug-in for Office or to receive help with the reconfiguration of the Norton AntiVirus plug-in for Office:
