FIX: COM+ Load Balancing May Stop Responding or Experience an Access Violation Error (811678)



The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

The Application Center 2000 Component Load Balancing (CLB) Service may stop responding (or "hang"), or it may experience an access violation error after repeated "server up" - "server down" conditions in cluster members.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the CLB routing list has become corrupted. The service might experience access violations or infinite loops when it traverses the corrupted list to add, delete, or search a cluster member.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Application Center 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.
