OL2000: The E-mail Message Header Remains in Your Inbox When You Synchronize Your Offline Files While Using Remote Mail (811546)

SYMPTOMS

When you press F9 to synchronize your Offline Files (.ost) while using Remote Mail in Outlook 2000, the full e-mail message is downloaded, but the e-mail message header remains in your Inbox.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing to further ensure product quality. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Office 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.

To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the fix. The global version of this fix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, manually delete the message header. To do this, click the message header that you want to delete, and then click Delete on the Edit menu.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
