Cannot see data that you copy from Excel 2002 in FrontPage 2002 preview (811207)

SYMPTOMS

When you copy a range of data from Excel 2002 and then paste it into a Web page in Front Page 2002, not all copied data appears in the table in the Front Page Preview view. The columns that are adjacent to the hidden column do not appear in the preview. However, all data appears correctly in the Front Page Normal view. This symptom only occurs when the range of data you copied from Excel 2002 includes a hidden column.

After the hotfix is installed, the English version of this fix will have the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, paste the data into Front Page 2002 as text, and then format it into a table:
  1. Select the data from Excel 2002, and then click Copy on the Edit menu.
  2. In Front Page 2002, position the insertion point where you want to paste the data.
  3. On the Edit menu, click Paste Special.
  4. In the Convert Text dialog box, click Normal paragraphs with line breaks, and then click OK.
  5. Select the data you inserted.
  6. On the Table menu, point to Convert, and then click Text to Table.
  7. In the Convert Text to Table dialog box, click Other.
  8. In the text box, delete the period character, type an empty space by pressing the SPACEBAR key on your keyboard, and then click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Office XP Service Pack 3.
