  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional
  • Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server

SYMPTOMS

When you view an event log from the bottom up (from the oldest entry to the most recent entry), the five hundredth line from the bottom may appear incorrectly. Instead of the correct entry, the oldest (last) entry is shown again. However, if you open this entry, the correct data appears in the event properties. Only the entry in the ListView control is incorrect.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, view the event log from the top to the bottom. You can also refresh or resort the event log to clear the incorrect entry.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
