The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server SP3
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP3

SYMPTOMS

When you use the File Replication service (FRS) to replicate data from a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer to another server, you may find that FRS does not replicate data successfully.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when FRS runs under the User account instead of under the Local System account.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, configure FRS to use the Local System account. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
  2. In the right-pane, click File Replication.
  3. On the Action menu, click Properties.
  4. Click the Log On tab, click Local System account, and then click OK.
