FIX: The application is slow to start when you debug in the Visual Studio .NET IDE (810155)


The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

If you are developing an application, such as a Microsoft ASP.NET application, in Microsoft Visual Studio .NET that uses the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0, you may experience a long delay if you run a debug session of the application from the Visual Studio .NET IDE. For example, if you press F5 to run the application, you may experience a long delay.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if no ASPNET user account is on your computer. When the application runs from within the IDE, the system looks for the ASPNET user account locally and then looks for the ASPNET user account on the domain.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next .NET Framework service pack that contains this hotfix.

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, add the ASPNET user account to your computer if it does not already exist. If your computer is part of a network domain, you can also add the ASPNET user account to the domain.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.
