  • Microsoft Works 2.0a

This article was previously published under Q80472

SUMMARY

The instructions on page 32 of the "Microsoft Works for Windows User's Guide" that explain how to link a Spreadsheet range to a document are incomplete. To link a range from a Works Spreadsheet to a Word Processor file, Microsoft Works Spreadsheet must be selected as the Data Type in the Paste Special dialog box.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps 6 and 7 on page 32 state:

6. From the Edit menu, choose Paste Special.

7. In the Paste Special dialog box, choose the Paste Link button.

When the Paste Special command is selected, the Paste Link option in step 7 will not be available until Microsoft Works Spreadsheet is selected as the Data Type. Once Microsoft Works Spreadsheet is selected, the Paste Link button will be available to link the Spreadsheet document to the Word Processor file.

IMPORTANT: You must save the Spreadsheet document before you use the Copy command, or the Paste Link command will still not be available.
