It is possible to restore the initial Works welcome screen (the screen you see when you start Works for Windows for the first time).

MORE INFORMATION

To restore the initial welcome screen, modify the .INI file for Works as follows.

NOTE: Modifying the INI settings file may cause errors with Works for Windows. Please use with discretion.

Works for Windows 2.0

  1. Start Notepad.
  2. Open the MSWORKS.INI file from the WINDOWS directory.
  3. Find the section [MS Works].
  4. Change DoWelcome=0 to DoWelcome=1.
  5. Save the MSWORKS.INI file.
  6. Start Works for Windows.
The initial Welcome screen will appear.

Works for Windows 3.0

  1. Start Notepad.
  2. Open the MSWORKS3.INI file from the WINDOWS directory.
  3. Find the section [MS Works].
  4. Change DoWelcome=0 to DoWelcome=1.
  5. Save the MSWORKS3.INI file.
  6. Start Works for Windows.
The initial Welcome screen will appear.

The line DoWelcome gets set to 0 (zero) when you choose "SKIP WELCOME SCREEN" from the initial Welcome screen.
