Works: Font and Margins Can't Be Changed from Mailing Labels W (79512)

This article was previously published under Q79512

SUMMARY

Neither the font nor the page margins can be changed directly from the Mailing Labels WorksWizard in Microsoft Works for Windows. If your labels are spaced incorrectly, label text is cut off, or the labels don't print, you may need to change these settings using the workaround below.

MORE INFORMATION

The Mailing Labels WorksWizard uses a default font of Helv 10 only. If your printer doesn't support Helv 10 and you don't change the font, the character spacing may be incorrect or the labels may not print.

The margin settings the Mailing Labels WorksWizard uses vary; however, in all cases, they can't be changed from the WorksWizard. If the margins are incorrect, label text on the edge of the page may be truncated.

WORKAROUND

To change the font or margins before printing the labels, use the following workaround:

  1. Use the Mailing Labels WorksWizard and you will get the following message:

Your labels are ready to print. What would you like to do Next?

  2. Choose "1 Save this label document" and select Next.
  3. Choose the Save button.
  4. Enter a filename for the label file and select Next.
  5. Select the Exit button and then choose "1 Yes, exit now" to confirm the exit.
  6. To change the font of the labels, do the following:

    1. From the Select menu, choose All.
    2. From the Format menu, choose Font & Style and choose your new font and size.
  7. To change the page size and print the labels, do the following:

    1. From the File menu, choose Print Labels.
    2. Select the appropriate database file.
    3. Change the Label Spacing and Number Of Labels Across Page settings if necessary.
    4. Choose the Print button from the Print Labels dialog box.
    5. Change the Margins as necessary from the Page Setup & Margins dialog box, which appears next.
    6. Choose OK to confirm the page setup, and choose OK again to print the labels.
