This article was previously published under Q78926
SUMMARY
When using STB Systems Inc.'s Rapidmeg Expansion Board, the following
message may appear:
164 - Memory Size Error
Resume = F1
This error message occurs when the computer's CMOS settings are
incorrect.
MORE INFORMATION
The CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) chip was introduced
as a standard for storing hardware information (including memory) for
the IBM PC-AT class machines.
The extended memory value stored in a computer's CMOS settings should
be a total of the extended memory on the system board (motherboard)
plus the extended memory on the Rapidmeg expansion board.
If the CMOS setting does not match the total as described above, the
computer will report an error when it is performing its power-on
self-test (POST).
For information on how to examine the CMOS settings, contact the
manufacturer of the computer in question.
For additional information, contact STB Systems Inc. technical support
at (214) 234-8750.
The products included here are manufactured by vendors independent of
Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding these
products' performance or reliability.
