SUMMARY

You can hide fields in list view of a Works for Windows database module by moving the cursor to the desired field and setting the width to zero (0).

MORE INFORMATION

To hide a field in list view, do the following:

  1. Select an entry in the field you want to hide.
  2. On the Format menu, click Field Width.
  3. Type 0 (zero).
  4. Click OK.
Fields cannot be completely hidden in form view of Works 2.0. The field name can be hidden, but the field width cannot be set to less than 1.

In Works 3.0 and Works 4.0, 4.5, and 4.5a for Windows 95, you can hide a field in form view by using one of the following methods while in form view (Works 3.0) or form design view (Works for Windows 95).

Method 1: Changing the Font Color

  1. Select the field.
  2. On the Format menu click Font And Style.
  3. Pick a color that is the same as the background of your form, for example, white.
  4. On the Format menu, click Show Field Name.
NOTE: The gridline for the field may show when you use this method.

Method 2: Inserting a Blank Rectangle

  1. On the Insert menu, click Rectangle.
  2. Move and size the rectangle so that it covers the field you want to hide.
  3. On the Format menu, click Shading (Works 4.0, 4.5 and 4.5a for Windows 95), or Patterns (Works 3.0).
  4. Select the solid (black) pattern.
  5. For the Foreground color, select the color of your form, for example, white. Click OK.
