Publisher uses the Windows Control Panel defaults for determining your margin values. If your machine is set up for metric, your margins will be based on a conversion from inches. Therefore, the default in Publisher under Centimeters will be 2.5 cm (2.54 in Publisher 2.0), or 1 inch converted.

Publisher 1.0

To change your measurement unit to centimeters in Microsoft Publisher version 1.0, choose Settings from the Options menu and select Centimeters in the Measurement box.

If you want to change to centimeters in all your applications, do the following:
  1. Start the Windows Control Panel.
  2. Choose the International icon.
  3. Under Measurements, choose Metric.
  4. Choose the OK button.
  5. Close the Control Panel.
By design, Microsoft Publisher bases all its basic information (date, date format, time, time format, currency format, language, number format, country, keyboard, and measurement) on what you have set in the Windows Control Panel.
