This article explains how to import an image created with version 4.0 of Microsoft Paintbrush for MS-DOS into WordPerfect, version 5.1. WordPerfect 5.1 comes with mouse support, so importing PCX images can be done with a few clicks.

To load an existing PCX file into WordPerfect, do the following:

  1. Start WordPerfect by typing wp in the \wp51 directory.
  2. Click the right mouse button to display the menu bar.
  3. Choose Graphics.
  4. Choose Figure - Create.
  5. Choose option 1 to load the PCX file.
  6. Type the filename.
  7. Choose option 7 to set figure size.
  8. Choose Set Both and type in the size.
  9. Choose edit (you should see the picture).
  10. Press F7 to exit.
