SUMMARY

AutoComplete, known as SmartFill in earlier versions, is a feature in Microsoft Money that enables you to quickly type text into a single transaction field. It completes the entry of an item as soon as you type at least three characters, plus enough characters for it to be uniquely identified.

MORE INFORMATION

For example, suppose you are typing a category that you have used before called Household Maintenance. After you type at least three characters, plus enough characters to uniquely identify the category, AutoComplete or SmartFill finishes typing the category for you.

When you have two categories that begin with the same letters (such as two categories that begin with the word "Automobile"), SmartFill does not complete the entry until you have typed enough letters for the name to be uniquely identified.

If AutoComplete or SmartFill is activated, you can press the BACKSPACE key to edit any entry you want.

If you prefer not to use AutoComplete or SmartFill, you can turn it off.

Money 97 and Later

To turn off AutoComplete in Money 97 and later, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click the Editing tab.
  3. Under Entry Options, click to clear the Use AutoComplete check box, and then click OK.
