Paintbrush Does Not Load with Control Room Resident (69351)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Paintbrush for MS-DOS 4.0
- Microsoft Paintbrush for MS-DOS 2.0
This article was previously published under Q69351 SUMMARY
Paintbrush cannot load if Borland/Ashton-Tate's Control Room is
loaded. The "Loading Please Wait" screen is displayed, then the system
locks up.
Borland/Ashton-Tate has confirmed this to be a problem with their
Control Room application. The only workaround is to reboot the system
and avoid installing Control Room if Paintbrush is running.
MORE INFORMATION
Control Room is a TSR (terminate-and-stay-resident) program that
cannot be removed from memory once it has been loaded. Therefore, you
should not load it if you plan to use Paintbrush. If it is loaded
automatically from your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, you should delete the line from
AUTOEXEC.BAT, and invoke Control Room only when you need it.
Control Room is manufactured by Borland, a vendor independent of
Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this
product's performance or reliability.
