FIX: EXIT Statement Not Flagged as Extension to Standard (67232)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft FORTRAN Compiler for MS-DOS 5.0
- Microsoft FORTRAN compiler for OS/2 5.0
This article was previously published under Q67232 SYMPTOMS
When an application contains the $STRICT metacommand or the
compiler command line includes the /4Yi, /4Ys, or /4Yv compiler
option switches and the source code includes the EXIT statement, no
warning message appears.
The compiler is designed to produce the following message for the
EXIT statement:
F2732 EXIT: nonstandard statement
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in FORTRAN version 5.0
for MS-DOS and OS/2. This problem has been corrected in FORTRAN
version 5.1 for MS-DOS and OS/2.
MORE INFORMATION
The EXIT statement is documented as an extension to the ANSI FORTRAN
77 standard. It appears in blue type in the Microsoft FORTRAN
"Reference" manual for versions 5.0 and 5.1. Because the EXIT
statement is not listed with the IBM Systems Application Architecture
(SAA) or DEC VAX extensions on pages 330-332 of the "Reference"
manual, the compiler should generate the F2732 warning message.
