LAN Manager 2.00 Err Msg: "DOS Error 52: Duplicate Name..." (64489)
This article was previously published under Q64489
SUMMARY
Question:
When I boot my computer, the drivers are installed correctly and
Netbind executes. However, I receive the following error from Netbind:
Net 3056: A system error has occurred.
DOS Error 52 has occurred.
There is a duplicate name on the network.
Why is this error message occurring?
Response:
Be sure that there are no other workstation names on the network that
match your workstation or user name. This error will occur if a domain
name is listed twice in the LANMAN.INI file; that is, in the "domain"
and "othdomains" parameters. If this is the problem, you need to delete
the duplicate domain name in the "othdomains" section.
