Local Security Installation Can Prompt Incorrect Logon (64131)

SUMMARY

When you use the LAN Manager version 2.00 Setup to install local security on a server, Setup assumes that the default administrative account has not been altered and instructs you to reboot and log on with the user name ADMIN and the password PASSWORD, making it appear that the installation process has reset the default administrative account.

After the next time you reboot, press [esc] and log on as username ADMIN and password PASSWORD ....

This is not necessarily correct. The installation process makes no changes to the defined user accounts. If you have modified your default administrative account, your logon attempt fails and your computer does not start.

To correct this problem, press CTRL+ALT+DEL to reboot, press ESC when asked if you want to log on, and use a valid administrative account and password (it does not have to be the ADMIN account, it can be any defined administrative account).
