Uneven or Inconsistent Colors on or Around the Toolbars in Program or Explorer Windows (331507)

This article was previously published under Q331507 SYMPTOMS When you view program windows or Explorer windows, you may
notice uneven or inconsistent colors on or around the toolbars. This issue may
occur only when you view the screen from an angle.CAUSE This issue has been reported in connection with certain
monitors when the Use Visual styles on windows and buttons
check box is selected in the Performance Options dialog
box.
This issue may be more noticeable when your Color
quality is set to 16 bit in theDisplay Properties
dialog box.
RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, clear the Use Visual styles
on windows and buttons check box in the Performance
Options dialog box. To do this, follow these steps: - Click Start, right-click My
Computer, and then click Properties.
- Click the Advanced tab, and then under
Performance, click Settings.
- Click the Visual Effects tab, click
Custom, and then click to clear the Use Visual styles
on windows and buttons check box.
- Click OK to close the Performance
Options dialog box, and then click OK to close the
System Properties dialog box.
