SYMPTOMS

When you try to install Windows, you may experience one or both of the following symptoms:
  • The 12 function keys (F1 through F12) may not work during the text mode portion of Setup.
  • When you press the F8 key to agree to the End User License Agreement (EULA), nothing may occur, and you may not be able to continue Setup.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you are using an Office keyboard. The Office keyboard can use different programmable functions for the F1 through F12 function keys. By default, the keyboard is configured to use the different functions for the F1 through F12 keys when you start your computer.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, press the "F LOCK" key on the Office keyboard to cause the standard functions for the F1 through F12 keys to be used, and then continue Setup.
