This article was previously published under Q330341

SYMPTOMS

A series of events may be logged every few minutes in the Event Viewer Application log of an Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server in your conference site. Because of the frequency in which these events are logged, the event log may contain many entries, up to several hundred, that are similar to the following, where ComputerName is the name of a remote Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server-based computer in your conferencing site: Event Type: Error
Event Source: DCOM
Event ID: 10006
Description:
DCOM got error "Class not registered" from the computer ComputerName when attempting to activate the server: {E85CB4EA-DA54-4632-A3C1-D8D2818AC233} Event Type: Error
Event Source: DCOM
Event ID: 10002

There may be a problem with this extensible counter or the service it is collecting data from or the system may have been very busy when this call was attempted. Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSExchangeDCS
Event Category: Internal
Event ID: 8199
Description:
An error occurred while the conference technology controller was communicating with the T.120 MCU ComputerName. Error code: 80040154; Message: Class not registered

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if the servers in your conferencing site do not all have the same version of the Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server service pack installed.

For example, if your conferencing site includes three servers, and Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server Service Pack 2 (SP2) is installed on two servers, and Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server is installed on the other server, you may experience the behavior that is described in the "Symptoms" section of this article. The Event Viewer Application log of the Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP2-based computer contains DCOM-related events in which the event description refers to the name of the server that does not have Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP2 installed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, make sure that all Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server computers in your conferencing site are running the same version of the Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server service pack. To do so, install the latest Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server service pack on all servers that are in your site.
