XCCC: Internet Clients Can Join a Conference After You Restrict Server Visibility (330335)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server
This article was previously published under Q330335 SYMPTOMS After you restrict client access to a T.120 MCU server, the
client may be able to connect to the server and join the conference, although
the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the client does not fall in the scope
mask that you defined. The steps to restrict client access are listed in the
"More Information" section of this article.CAUSE This issue may occur if the following conditions exist:
- Your network is made up of a single Active Directory site
in which no additional site and subnet pairs are defined.
- The T.120 MCU server is configured to accept client
connections from the Internet.
This issue may also occur with Internet clients in a
single-site environment. When you restrict server visibility and only one site
exists in which no additional site and subnet pairs are defined, Exchange
Conferencing Server assumes that clients are on the default site. For example,
Default-First-Site-Name. RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, use the Active Directory Sites and
Services snap-in to create a fictitious Active Directory site, and then
associate a subnet with the site. You must configure more than one Active
Directory site before the Conference Management service can distinguish whether
users are connecting locally or are connecting from the Internet. If you do not
configure more than one site, all users appear to come from the default site.
