Messenger may start instead of Windows Messenger. For example, an MSN Messenger
window is displayed on the screen and you are prompted to sign in to the
Microsoft .NET Messenger Service. CAUSE This issue may occur if all the following conditions are
true:
- Windows Messenger is configured to start automatically when
Windows starts. This is the default setting.
- You install MSN Messenger 5.0. MSN Messenger is installed
on the computer when you install MSN 8.0 and is also available as a separate
download.
- MSN Messenger 5.0 is configured to start automatically when
Windows starts. This is the default setting.
If both Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger are set to start
automatically when Windows starts, the Run this program when Windows
starts option in Windows Messenger is cleared (turned off). Therefore,
MSN Messenger starts automatically when Windows starts. RESOLUTION For additional information about how
