You cannot create an administrative install point of the Multilingual User Interface Pack for Microsoft Project 2002 (329747)

SYMPTOMS

When you create administrative installation points with the Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI) for Microsoft Project 2002, you are prompted for a product key, and then the installation does not succeed.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

The global version of this fix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

To use this hotfix 's transform file, follow these steps:
  1. Run lpksetup.exe /a.
  2. Choose an installation location (for example, "c:\admin.lpk\").
  3. Click to select the install the Office System Packs only check box.
  4. Finish the setup.
  5. Run each language admin install while you apply the transform. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Run 1028\setup.exe /a transforms=qfe6946.mst.
    2. When you install, use the same location as in step 2, but attach the lcid to the end. (For example, "c:\admin.lpk\1028".)
    3. Repeat steps a through b for the rest of the languages.
    You now have a fully functioning admin setup. This setup can be patched, if Microsoft releases a patch.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
