"Stop 0x000000CE" Error Message During Startup (329710)

error message similar to one or both of the following:
Stop 0x000000CE (oxf21e0488, 0x00000000, 0xf21e0488, 0x00000000)
Stop
0x000000ce (eb1e3d0c, 00000000, eb1e3d0c, 00000000) Driver unloaded
without canceling pending operations: daprotim.sys CAUSE This issue may occur if you have 3COM DynamicAccess Server
software installed on your computer. RESOLUTION To work around this issue, use the Windows 2000 Recovery
Console to disable the Destination address and protocol (DAPROT) service. To do
this, follow these steps:
- Start your computer by using your Windows 2000 CD-ROM as
the boot disk.
NOTE: You may have to change the disk that your computer starts from in
your system BIOS settings. See the documentation that came with your computer
or your computer's motherboard for information about your BIOS. - When you are prompted, press R to select
Repair, and then press C to select the Recovery
Console.
- If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select
the installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console.
- When you are prompted, type the Administrator password, and
then press ENTER.
- Type disable daprot, and then press
ENTER.
- Type exit, and then press
ENTER.
- Start your computer normally.
