XADM: When You Click "Attach" Multiple Times, Attachment Loading Is Delayed and the Front-End Server Becomes Unresponsive (329620)

SYMPTOMS

When both of the following conditions are true on a front-end/back-end installation of Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 3 (SP3)
  • Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) functionality is implemented on the front end.

    -and-
  • The user clicks Attach three or more times while uploading an attachment.
the front end may become inaccessible to all other Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) clients for the duration of the upload.

Note: The front end later recovers and performance returns to normal.

MORE INFORMATION

After you apply this hotfix, the Browse, Attach, and Close options become unavailable (appear dimmed) during an upload operation. After the upload is completed, these options become available again to upload another attachment.
