FIX: Changes in the Properties Window of an ActiveX Control Are Not Persisted (329076)

SYMPTOMS

If you insert a Microsoft ActiveX control in a Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC) Dialog project, and then you change the properties of the ActiveX control by using the control's Properties window, the changes are not saved when you close the project.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the container where you inserted the ActiveX control does not verify the OnChanged event when you change the properties of the control.

Note This suggests that the ActiveX control calls the BoundsPropertyRequestEdit method before changing a property and then calls the BoundsPropertyChanged method after changing it. For the following resolution to work, the control must call these methods (if it is not already doing so).

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Visual Studio .NET service pack that contains this hotfix.
