XCCC: "Send As" Permissions Do Not Work As Expected When You Send a Message as a Public Folder (328992)

If your mailbox resides on an Exchange Server computer and you try to send an e-mail message as a public folder, you experience one of the following symptoms:
- The tracking log shows that you, instead of the public folder, sent the message.
- If you are permitted to send e-mail messages to a distribution list (DL) but the public folder is not permitted, any e-mail messages that you send as the public folder are delivered.

This problem does not occur if you use Exchange 2000 Server. In Message Tracking Center, the message appears to have been sent by the public folder. To find the mailbox that actually sent the message, configure diagnostic logging for the Send As category of the Public Folder or Mailbox object under the MSExchangeIS service. If the public folder does not have permissions to send messages to a DL, Exchange 2000 sends a non-delivery report (NDR).
NOTE: The NDR is sent to the public folder, but public folders do not accept NDRs.
