OL2000: Errors When You Open Meeting Update That Contains Attachments (328921)

SYMPTOMS

After a meeting organizer has sent several updates that contain attachments and the meeting updates have been accepted, you may not be able to accept or decline new meeting updates. If you open the meeting update to accept it, you may receive the following error message:
This meeting is not in the calendar. It has been moved or deleted.
If you accept or decline the meeting update, you may receive the following error message:
The messaging interface has returned an unknown error.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Office 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.

After the hotfix is installed, the English version of this fix will have the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

WORKAROUND

To temporarily work around this problem, the meeting organizer must remove all attachments from the meeting update before he or she sends it to attendees for the meeting update to be accepted.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
